John Henry Jenks papers, 1859-1864.

The Jenks Papers primarily contain Civil War letters from Jenks to his wife, Almina Crawford Jenks, although there are twelve letters which date from December 1859 through June 1860. These describe his business and activities in Keene, N.H. Remaining letters, dating from October 1862 to October 1864, deal largely with Jenks' Civil War service. These contain descriptions of camp conditions, guard duty, slave life, Jenk's travels in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and Louisiana, and of the Battles of Winchester and Fisher's Hill.
